Hello,

We offer unlimited free SSL certificates through the cPanel Comodo AutoSSL system. In order for a certificate to be generated, these requirements must be met:

  • The domain (either yourdomain.com or subdomain.com) has to exist and be hosted directly with us at the time of SSL generation.
  • If your domain's DNS record is not pointing to our services at the time of the check, your SSL certificate will not be generated.
  • You must not have an SSL certificate from another provider installed on that domain (even if it's expired). If you have an SSL certificate from another webhost or service that is going to expire, we'd recommend removing that SSL site and the certificate.
AutoSSL is ran every night at 2:30AM EST. It takes roughly 30-45 minutes for all SSL certificates to be generated. If you want to know how to generate AutoSSL certificates yourself, scroll down to the bottom of this article.

If you need to remove old/expiring SSL certificates you would do this from your own cPanel control panel. Note: This can not be ran from WHM if you're a reseller, this must be ran directly from your or your customer's cPanel interface (port 2083):

Once logged into cPanel, under the Security Section, select SSL/TLS.

From there, click Manage SSL Sites.

Any site's that have an invalid or soon expiring SSL certificate that is not issued by Comodo/cPanel AutoSSL, you can Uninstall using the Uninstall option on that right hand side.

After that you'll want to go back to the SSL/TLS section of your cPanel and select "Generate, view, upload, or delete SSL certificates..". Once there, you'll want to Delete any certificates that you just uninstalled from the Manage SSL Sites section.

Now AutoSSL can run on the domains that had invalid or expiring certificates.

You can also run AutoSSL from your own cPanel control panel at any time. Note: This can not be ran from WHM if you're a reseller, this must be ran directly from your or your customer's cPanel interface (port 2083):

From cPanel under the Security section, select SSL/TLS Status.

From this screen you can exclude (if any) domains from the AutoSSL process if you don't want an SSL certificate to be generated for them. Once you've made any exclusions, you can go ahead and click "Run AutoSSL" and SSL certificates will be generated. Note this process can take anywhere from 20-40 minutes to complete.
